Best 2014 Parrot A.R. Drone 2.0 Review

Okay, so about 3 months ago after a long inner-debate on which quadcopter I should purchase next, I finally decided upon the Parrot A.R. Drone 2.0. Looking back on it, I’m not sure how or why I ever considered any other option; this drone truly does live up to it’s standards and maybe even then some. I went with the newer, elite edition so that’s the version that I’ll be talking about in this Parrot A.R. Drone 2.0 Review, however, you can opt for the slightly cheaper, older one. Leading Tankless Water Heater Reviews

Looking for a water heater? Here we have detailed tankless water heater reviews about all of the top brands out today. After installing and fixing these things for years I know just about all there is to know. We hope we make finding the perfect water heater a bit easier for you. Let’s get to the basics first.

Tankless Water Heater Reviews

Tankless water heaters have made their way to the United States from Europe in the last few years and I must say they are quite impressive. It is exactly what it says – a water heater without a tank. They barely take up any room and can be installed indoors or outside. Instead of having a set amount of hot water stored, it heats the water as you need it – and fast too. Yes, this means never running out of hot water. On top of that they are energy and cost efficient. Now let’s check out the different brands.

Noritz

Thirty-three years ago Noritz actually produced the first tankless water heater. The way their tankless water heater works is a flow sensor detects that you turned a hot water valve on and then the heater’s burner is automatically ignited. The burner then proceeds to heat the water up to your desired temperature as it flows through the heat exchanger. Due to the fact the unit only turns on when hot water is needed and automatically shuts off afterwards you end up saving a lot of money. Actually so much that you can expect your heating and water bills to be cut in half. On top of that their water heaters are environment friendly and have a very long lifespan. This brand will not disappoint.

Rheem

This company is great at providing the perfect water heater specifically for your needs. If you’re looking for something that won’t take up much space their heaters are only about the size of a small cabinet, great for installing inside a garage or closet. They are also very efficient when it comes to supplying hot water fast. At its best it can pump out 9 gallons of hot water per minute – 9! That’s a lot. It’s safe to say that these are some of the best tankless water heaters around.

Navien

First, let me say, if efficiency is what you want, then this is the water heater you need. With a 0.98 efficiency rate, it doesn’t get any better. What does all this efficiency mean though? Lower bill costs, that’s what. Also, these water heaters are gas powered instead of electric. Still, they are one of the most environmentally friendly heaters on the market.

Bosch

Choosing a Bosch tankless water heater instead of a conventional tank means reducing your utility bills by half due to the fact it only turns on when hot water is needed instead of running around the clock. This company strives to make their products environmentally friendly as well as user friendly, so you can be confident in choosing this brand. The lifespan of these tanks exceeds 20 years compared to the normal 12. You can’t go wrong with a Bosch tankless water heater, aka one of the best tankless water heaters.

Ecosmart

If you couldn’t tell by the name, this company’s expertise is in designing eco-friendly products. Ecosmart’s water heaters use the same “on-demand” principle as most other tankless heaters. So yes, choosing an Ecosmart heater also means lower bill costs, but by up to 60% instead of 50%. With this brand, you will always receive a continuous supply of hot water without any temperature fluctuation. Or simply, without cold water in between. They cost anywhere from just under $200 to almost $600 depending on your needs.

Rinnai

A rinnai tankless water heater can save you up to $400 a year on energy costs, which is quite a bit if I do say so myself. This heater is so compact that you could even install it under your sink if wanted. Another great feature is its durability and long lifespan of up to 20 years. On the downside, rinnai tankless water heaters can only be fixed by certified Rinnai technicians. Just make sure there are plenty in your area before purchasing one.

Bradford White

This company has everything from solar powered to oil combination water heaters and everything in between. So when choosing, make sure to choose what best fits your need based on size, capacity, and whether you prefer gas, electric or solar powered. Bradford White is known for its durability and long lasting water heaters. Instead of cheap aluminum they use anode rods made from magnesium which prevents corrosion which is probably the leading reason this brand is so durable. On top of that, they even come with a 6 year warranty.

Conclusion

Many tankless water heaters are very similar so it just comes down to preference. Before purchasing any water heater, though, be sure to read countless tankless water heater reviews so you’re sure of what you’re getting.

Top Mini Quads of 2014

Personally, I love having a mini quadcopter to fly inside the house on days that it’s stormy or just too windy. That’s not saying, though, that they’re not great outside as well. I’ve flown just about every mini drone out there to date and I’m going to write a brief review on some of my favorites. Let’s check them out.

Husban X4 H107C

My favorite thing about the Husban X4 is the fact it comes equipped with a camera to take aerial photography. Just in case you’re wondering exactly how small this drone actually is, it’s 6×6, making it extremely small. Also, it’s flight is very stable with the latest 6-axis flight control system. This quad can perform left, right, forward and backward flips. It’s definitely worth the small price of only $50.98 on Amazon.

mini quadcopter

 Blade Nano QX RTF

This quadcopter doesn’t even weigh an ounce, making it one of the smallest quads out there. Don’t let its size fool you though, this drone is extremely durable due to it’s SAFE technology features and blade guards. At almost twice as much as the Husban X4, this copter is $90.00. Still, that’s not too bad. I would especially recommend this to any and all beginner quad enthusiasts due to how easy this copter is to fly. It comes with two modes, it’s SAFE system and agility mode which offers more maneuverability.

Heli-Max 1SQ

This quad is the most expensive of the three at $100. Before considering buying this quadcopter you must make sure you have your own computer or laptop with a USB port to charge it.  This drone comes ready to fly meaning you won’t have to spend any unnecessary time putting pieces together. The stability of this machine is unreal. It also comes with a 2.4 GHz radio that includes beginner and expert modes. Don’t miss out on a great buy.

Best Quadcopters: Beginner to Advanced

All About Quadcopters

Ever since quadcopters first came out I have been in love. It began as a way to escape boredom and has since developed into my biggest hobby. There are all kinds of drones – those with cameras, small ones, large ones, waterproof quads, expensive, inexpensive. There’s even tricopters and helicopters if you’re more interested in flying one of those. It really all comes down to personal preference. Here, though, I will review some of the best quadcopters and then maybe you’ll decide what’s best for you. I’ll start with beginner drones and work my way up to advanced.

Beginners

Husban x4 H107
The Husban x4 H107 comes equipped with everything a beginner quad enthusiast needs: a camera, a 2.4 GHz radio, a 3.7 V 240 rechargeable mAh battery and most importantly a cheap price tag of just $50.00. There is no set-up time with this drone considering it comes 100% ready right out of the box. After fully charging the battery for about half an hour you should get up to 9 minutes of flying time which is slightly impressive, especially for the small size. It comes in a few different colors and styles and I must say this drone is extremely easy to fly.

Traxxas QR-1
If you want a smaller quadcopter and you’re relatively new at flying drones then the Traxxas QR-1 is perfect for you. It’s almost twice as expensive as the Husban x4 but still manageable at $90.00. This copter is good for flying indoors or outside; just be sure to check that there’s little wind as this quad is only 1.5 pounds and could easily get carried away. You can choose from blue, green, red or orange. There are also two LED lights for night time flying. Another thing that makes this quad cool is that it’s good for tricks so once you start getting better you can do barrel rolls, flips and any other crazy thing you can think of.

Syma X1
This is one of my personal favorites and one of the best quadcopters out there today; I would recommend it to any beginner quad enthusiast. It comes in 3 unique styles and is very cheap at only $30.00. Don’t let the price tag fool you, trust me, you get more than what you are paying for. The Syma X1 gives you the freedom to go in any direction you please with its full 3D flight. On top of that, it comes with a 3-axis flight control system making this bad boy extremely stable.

Best Quadcopters

Intermediates

Sky Viper
If you enjoy performing tricks this is the drone for you. The Sky Viper can do any flip, roll, or turn with ease; you simply push a button on the receiver and it will instantly perform these tricks. At 16” diagonal, this is definitely not a small quad. It comes equipped with a 2.4 GHz remote with a rechargeable battery and AC adapter. Also, you can choose from three difficulty modes, beginner to advanced. At just $50.00 this is a great buy.

Parrot A.R. Drone
Crashing your drone is always a scary thought but with the Parrot A.R. Drone you won’t have to be as worried if a crash does occur. The body is made out of foam which protects the more expensive parts of the quadcopter. On top of that, its design is incredibly sturdy. Unfortunately, this drone is a bit pricier at $300.00 and you must control the copter either via ios or an android smart phone. If you’re willing to spend the money this is a great buy that will last.

Advanced

Blade 350 QX
A great thing about this quad is that it comes 100% ready to fly out of the box. That means you don’t have to waste any of your time trying to put this drone together, just charge it and you’re ready to go. The Blade 350 QX SAFE technology provides three flight modes from beginner to advanced. Thankfully, this quad gets up to 12 minutes of flight time when fully charged. My favorite thing about this drone is its return home function that automatically lands the quad at your chosen home location. If you’re interested in having a camera on your copter, the 350 QX comes ready to attach a GoPro camera. Of course, all of these great features come at a hefty price tag of $470.00.

DJI Phantom
The main reason I put this drone under advanced instead of intermediates is simply because of its price. You need to be sure you know how to control a drone before you buy this quad, mainly due to the fact if you crash and destroy your copter that’s $500.00 down the drain. Just like the 350 QX, this quad comes ready to fly. Amazingly, the Phantom’s top speed is 22 mph! Again, like the Blade 350, the DJI Phantom comes ready to mount a GoPro. If you really want to get fancy, you can purchase the DJI Phantom 2 Vision which comes equipped with a camera and with many extra features at a whopping price tag of $1,000.

Tankless Water Heaters: How They Work

You might be wondering how do tankless water heaters work? The biggest difference between  how a tankless water heater works and a traditional tank is that tankless water heaters heat water on demand, while a traditional tank has a set amount of hot water stored. So what does this mean exactly for you and your family? Well, that you will never run out of hot water again. Great news, right? On top of that, even though each brand and model is slightly different, they generally heat up the water very quickly meaning you won’t be waiting around for your shower to be warm enough.  Switching over from a traditional tank will also save you about 50% on your energy bills due to the fact they only turn on when you turn a hot water valve on and shut off by themselves afterwards. Each tankless water heater works slightly different than the other but I think you get the idea. Below is a video explaining gas tankless water heaters in more detail.

There are also electric tankless water heaters and even solar powered ones, though, those are harder to come by. You can store one of these bad boys in small spaces so it’s out of the way. There is no reason not to switch over from your traditional tank, especially since tankless water heaters are cheaper.
